Just days ago, we reported that the British small-scale maker of luxurious, Aston Martin inspired coupes, David Brown Automotive, was about to introduce a new, cheaper vehicle positioned under its exquisitely priced Speedback GT model. In two years, only 11 Speedbacks have been built, so the Mini should create a bit more buzz at the workshop. Starting from $62,000 at current rates, going all the way to $86,000 if you want one with all the trimmings.

Now, it looks like David Brown Automotive is tossing its hat in the ring with a new reimagined Mini Cooper. Despite the size, David Brown says the little coupe is chock-full of all manner of sound deadening to keep things calm on the inside. It's called the Mini Remastered, and it's a pint-sized follow-up to David Brown's enigmatic Speedback GT. Despite all the extra niceties, the Mini Remastered should be a blast to drive.


It's in the interior where the Mini Remastered has received the most obvious 21st century updates, featuring luxuries that didn't exist in the 1960s. As you'd expect from DBA, the interior is hand-trimmed with sumptuous sculpted seats and luxurious materials. The best news for fans of the original Mini, however, is that DBA has rebuilt the classic car's 1275cc engine and extracted up to 50 percent more power, depending on the spec you opt for. As standard, you get an in-built infotainment and navigation system ideal for city driving, as well as Apple CarPlay and android Auto, a four-speaker sound system, keyless-go, USB connectivity and charging, push-button start and remote central locking.
